Open Airways is the only registered charity in Bermuda
helping people with asthma and COPD (chronic obstructive
pulmonary diseases), with qualified professional
educators.

Did
you know that in Bermuda:
- 1 in 10
adults and 1 in 5 young children suffer from Asthma.
- Lack of
knowledge about preventing and controlling asthma results in
unnecessary days off work or school and distressing, costly
visits to the hospital emergency departments.
- Many
people are unable to afford medications and basic equipment
necessary to prevent asthma episodes.
- Chronic
Obstructive Airways Disease (COPD), such as Emphysema,
affects a large number of people over the age of 50.
- Hospital
admissions for Asthma are down 77% since Open Airways began
education
As a
Charity we aim to:
- Provide
specialized education in asthma and other respiratory
problems such as emphysema.
- Educate
individuals, their families and the public about respiratory
diseases and to promote self care where possible.
- Act as an
advocate and lobbyist for people with respiratory diseases,
particularly those who are most vulnerable and
disenfranchised, to improve access to quality
care.
- Provide
basic necessary equipment for effective treatment for those
in need.
